dataphonics [concert version]

dataphonics is a music project focused on the relationship between the sound of data and data of sound. It crosses various formats: multi–channel sound performance, radio programmes and audio/data research. A version of the project was broadcast monthly on Radio France during 2006/07.

dataphonics [concert version], part of Ikeda’s datamatics project, is performed as a multi-channel concert for a blacked-out space. Using precise audio technologies, Ikeda creates a unique sound field that presents listeners with both a highly physical experience of space and time and explores the thresholds of the audience’s perception of the huge numbers of data codes used in the sound composition.
