“[Gina Czarnecki's] work is at the cutting edge interface between science and art…”
– Real Time arts magazine, 2006
Contagion is a compelling, interactive video installation whose seductive, playful interface gradually reveals a powerful work about images, perception, surveillance, bio–security and human interaction.
In this major new work, the tiniest movements of visitors in the installation space are tracked and made visible as colours projected on screen; new colours and sounds are created as visitors' paths coincide. Prompting us to contemplate our own roles of cause and effect within the installation, Contagion draws powerful parallels between the biological spread of diseases and the dissemination of information, ideas and beliefs.
