Eight structures, each an individual artwork, are presented jointly in an unusual out-door setting. They form the entity that is A-Tipis, consisting of four units developed by visual artists and four by performance-based artists. Resisting classification and refusing the well-know presentation frames, A-Tipis moves out towards people.
Using contemporary nomadism as a trigger, A-Tipis’ artists confront us with physical structures and life interactions placed in an a-typical setting. This summer, A-Tipis moves from a wide open grassland protected from the north sea by the dunes to a minutely designed city park frequented by all the kind of people a metropolis provides, to end up on a green peninsula, squeezed between a highway, medieval canals and the industrial outskirts of medium-sized city.
A-Tipis is not simply a mobile open-air exhibition through which you can walk. It is an active environment that invites you to participate in it by stepping out of the everyday world and into a new territory. It is a place to spend some time, to reflect and to let yourself be surprised by the unexpected things that may happen.
