The End of the Moon is Laurie Anderson's new solo work, combining stories and a mesmerising soundscape for violin and electronics.
Anecdotal, wide-ranging and epic, the performance draws on Anderson's recent experiences as NASA's first artist-in-residence. Part travelogue, part personal philosophy, part daydream, The End of the Moon looks at the relationships between war, aesthetics, spirituality and consumerism. It explores the meanings of freedom, time and beauty in our contemporary world.
One of the world's leading performance artists, Laurie Anderson's multi-media presentations have consistently intrigued, entertained and challenged audiences, and have cast her in roles as varied as visual artist, composer, poet, photographer, filmmaker, ventriloquist, media art pioneer, vocalist and instrumentalist.
‘Laurie Anderson is a minimalist painter of melancholy moods who addresses universal themes in the vernacular of the commonplace.’ - Rolling Stone.
