Richard Wilson - Irons in the fire

Richard Wilson is celebrated internationally for a career spanning more than twenty years, exhibiting inspired architectural interventions and site specific sculpture. He has achieved critical and popular acclaim for works such as 20:50, a sea of reflective sump oil installed permanently in the Saatchi Collection.

Set within an installation of filing cabinets and shelving units, Irons in the Fire uses sketchbooks, drawings and maquettes to reveal the complex workings behind Wilson’s often deceptively simple works. Juxtaposing his seminal temporary gallery interventions with his major permanent public works, the exhibition provides a fascinating insight into one of Britain’s most distinctive artists.

In Wapping, the exhibition is expanded to include a new specially commissioned piece, Butterfly.

Butterfly was commissioned by wapping Project with support from The Elephant Trust, The Henry Moore Foundation and Tractel UK.
